  • In July-November 2023, Profs. Viola Dolani, Amelita Ami and Xhulia spearheaded another fundraising campaign with the support of the “Fan S. Noli” University in Korçë, Albania. This time, they sold tote bags with the nonprofit’s logo, raising funds to support children with disabilities in Korçë, Albania.

  • On March 13, 2023, we launched the Patient Navigation Program, which aims to financially support the families of Albanian children diagnosed with cancer who seek treatment at the University Medical Center of Tirana “Mother Teresa” in Tirana. 
  • In November-December 2022, donations collected from the charity concert “We Sing for Peace” – totaling a sum of 198,500Lekë – were used in aid of 14 children from 5 Ukrainian families that were forced to stay in Albania unexpectedly during the 2022 winter. 
  • On November 14, 2022, Gisela Koroli is awarded the 2022-2023 A&V Education Accessibility Scholarship. Gisela is a first year student studying philosophy and sociology at the Faculty of Natural and Social Sciences at the Fan S. Noli University, Korçë.
  • On October 27, 2022, a discussion with Prof. Viola Dolani of the Faculty of Natural and Social Sciences at the Fan S. Noli University, Korçë, on the topic of undertaking fundraising initiatives was held on Facebook and Instagram as part of our social media Live Talk Series.
  • On July 6, 2022, the charity concert “We Sing for Peace” in support of children affected by the 2022 war in Ukraine was held at the Jordan Misja Artistic Lyceum’s Concert Hall. Under the unifying message that Albanian and Ukrainian children stand together for peace, the concert featured performances by both young Albanian artists, mainly from the “Little Prodigy 8” talent show,  and Ukrainian refugees in Albania. The concert was organized with the support of the televised Albanian talent show-n “Little Prodigy 8”, Municipality of Tirana and Ukrainian Embassy to the Republic of Albania, and was sponsored by Sofra e Ariut and Credins Bank. The concert was broadcasted by Vizion Plus on July 12, 2022 at 9:00pm.
  • In June 2022, online business trainer and influencer, Helga Cacani, launched a fundraising campaign as part of her “Confidence Without a Limit” training. Helga donated all of the funds collected (a total of €315) and an additional €1000 to the NPO on July 29, 2022. 
  • On June 1, 2022, we visited and presented gifts to the hospitalized children at the Pediatric Onco-Hematology Department of the University Medical Center of Tirana “Mother Teresa” to celebrate “Children’s Day” in Albania. 
  • On May 9, 2022, the Kohli Lab, where Aleksia Barka was a researcher at as an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, donated 250 USD to the NPO.
  • In May 2022, we launched an Instagram Live Talk Series with the purpose of discussing important topics surrounding the NPO, its goals and projects, and the significance of its work. The first guest was Aulona Musta, an Albanian influencer and TV personality, who talked about how she got interested in our work and the initiative of her young daughter, Amara, to donate her hair.
  • In March-June 2022, Profs. Viola Dolani, Amelita Ami and Xhulia spearheaded a fundraising campaign with the support of the “Fan S. Noli” University in Korçë, Albania. 100 copies of the activity book “Duar të Arta, Mendje e Mprehtë, Zemër e Madhe” and 100 “Children for Children” pens were sold as part of the campaign, raising enough funds for financing the lacing of a new wig. 
  • In January 2022, a new volunteer application was launched.
  • In December, 2021, the lacing of two new wigs ended. However, their donation to the Pediatric Onco-Hematology Department of the University Medical Center of Tirana “Mother Teresa” is postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 
  • In November, 2021, Afrodita Beadini donated the proceeds from the sale of one of her paintings. 
  • In June-October, 2021, the project for establishing the Recreation Center and Family Room project at the Pediatric Onco-Hematology Department of the University Medical Center of Tirana “Mother Teresa” was implemented. The project was concluded on October 31, 2021, but the inauguration of the new spaces has been postponed to a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 
  • On June 2, 2021, Margarita Lilaj donated all of the proceeds of her small business “Magjia e Magit” from May 26 to June 2, 2021 in honor of June 1, Children’s Day in Albania. 
  • In February-April, 2021, Noel & Maridion ran a new fundraising campaign involving the sale of handmade cards. 
  • In March, 2021, Official Development Assistance of the Czech Republic awarded the “Local Small Scale Project” grant to the NPO for our Recreation Center and Family Room project. 
  • In February, 2021, Enxhi Sulkja’s GoFundMe campaign came to an end. Enxhi raised €1000, which she donated to Children for Children alongside with her hair (60cm). 
  • In February, 2021, Vlora’s Local Healthcare Department led the campaign “Me for You” in collaboration with our NPO with the goal of raising funds for financing the lacing of a wig. 
  • In November, 2020, the activity book “Duar të Arta, Mendje e Mprehtë, Zemër e Madhe” was published. You can order it from anywhere in Albania by clicking here.
  • In June-November, 2020, Aleksia and Vasia applied for several international grants to fund the project for establishing a Recreation Center and Family Room in the Pediatric Onco-Hematology Department of the University Medical Center of Tirana “Mother Teresa.” One of these grants was the “Local Small Scale Project” grant awarded by the Official Development Assistance of the Czech Republic in 2021. 
  • On September 17, 2020, Enxhi Sulkja started a GoFundMe campaign to cut all of her hair and raise funds to lace wigs.
  • On July 24, 2020, Kesli Faber joined the executive board as Director of International Affairs. Her responsibilities include directing and managing projects outside of Albania, primarily in the United States.
  • In May, 2020, Aleksia and Vasia conceived a project to establish a Recreation Center and Family Room in the Pediatric Onco-Hematology Department of the University Medical Center of Tirana “Mother Teresa.” To design these spaces, they consulted ​Melanie Eisenhower and Lisa Vitlip​ (Certified Child Life Specialists at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Cancer Center), Dr. Anila Godo, and Genta Çekani, the social worker at the Pediatric Hospital of Tirana’s Oncology and Hematology department.
  • On April 16, 2020, the coloring book project was launched. This project fulfills the charity’s educational and humanitarian missions since the drawings featured in the book come from several donors, while the proceeds from the sale of the book will go toward the lacing of new wigs.
  • On November 22, 2019, the sale of pens with the nonprofit’s logo began, with an initial event held at the Faculty Natural Sciences of the University of Tirana. The proceeds from the pen sale go directly toward the lacing of the wigs. If you are interested in purchasing a pen, please contact us.
  • On July 1, 2019, the new board were officially appointed their roles.
  • On June 26, 2019, the charity donated presents to the children at the Pediatric Hospital of Tirana, and brought an animation group to entertain them. In addition, the volunteers teamed up with the children to participate in arts and crafts activities. This activity was funded from the sale of 2018 calendars by Beauty Time Estetike in Durrës, Albania.
  • On June 1, 2019, a general body meeting was held. Applications for the new board were opened, with co-leaders the two co-founders: Aleksia and Vasia Barka.
  • In March, 2019, Aleksia & Vasia Scholarship was launched. Starting from the academic year 2019-2020, this is a grant offered to 2 students that have overcome or are currently battling an illness, and are aspiring to or currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in a public Albanian university.
  • In June, 2018, the fifth, sixth and seventh wigs were donated to the Pediatric Hospital of Tirana, which were sponsored by the funds collected from the sale of the 2018 calendars and the campaign in the city of Kavaja.
  • In January and February, 2018, Kavaja District School Board led a campaign to raise funds through the sale of 2018 calendars and held a concert with performances from students of the schools in Kavaja at the Palace of Culture of Kavaja.
  • In October, 2017, calendars of 2018, featuring drawings from the sick children in the Pediatric Hospital of Tirana, were produced with the goal of fundraising.
  • In August, 2017, the fourth wig was donated to the Pediatric Hospital of Tirana.
  • On April 12, 2017, a fundraising concert with musical performances and featuring the screening of the documentary To give with love, was held in the Performing Arts Center, Branksome Hall, Toronto.
  • In November, 2016, calendars of 2017, featuring drawings from the sick children in the Pediatric Hospital of Tirana, were produced with the goal of fundraising.
  • The concert in the city of Saranda was held on August 22, 2016. This event featured the premier of the documentary To give with love, and many performances by Saranda’s Cultural Center for Children, who also contributed by donating part of the funds raised from the sale of their artistic works with seashells.
  • After the documentary was finalized, on July 9, 2016 Vasia and Aleksia began discussions with the Mayor of the city of Saranda, with the goal of organizing a concert in this city, which would serve as the premiere of the documentary and a fundraising event.
  • On June 25, 2016, a conference with the organization’s active participants (all volunteers), led by Vasia and Aleksia, was held to discuss next steps that would ensure the continuity of the project. The final footage of the documentary is made of clips filmed during this conference.
  • In the summer of 2016, the third wig was donated to the Pediatric Hospital of Tirana.
  • From October, 2015 to March, 2016, Aleksia designed a poster to raise awareness, while Vasia began lacing the third wig, which was later finished by Marlin Lako.
  • From December, 2015 to January, 2016, pins with the organization’s logo were sold for fundraising.
  • In July, 2015, Vasia and Aleksia began a course to learn the basic wig-lacing techniques.
  • During the summer of 2015, the project of making the documentary To give with love with the goal of raising awareness began.
  • On July 9, 2015, the first two laced wigs were donated to the Pediatric Hospital of Tirana, which were sponsored by the funds collected from the sale of the book How we grew up with writing and the pins.
  • From December, 2014 to January, 2015, pins with the organization’s logo were sold for fundraising.
  • In December, 2014, a group of volunteers led by Kesli Faber, visited the Pediatric Hospital of Tirana and gave gifts to the sick children to celebrate the New Year.
  • On June 7, 2014, the first six girls cut and donated their hair. Since then more girls from different group ages from all over Albania, Kosovo, Greece and Italy joined the cause, and the number of donors is ever increasing.
  • On June 1, 2014, an activity was organized in the Pediatric Hospital of Tirana, where the Circus of Tirana gave performances to celebrate “Children’s Day” in Albania. Gifts, sponsored by Jani and Majlinda Barka, were handed to the sick children.
  • In May, 2014, the project “Donate hair for children who lose hair due to chemotherapy treatment” was presented in the Parliament of Albania during a meeting focused on children.
  • The organization was launched on May 11, 2014.

All these events have been covered by the media, where participants of the organization have been part of talk shows on radio stations and television channels, news reports, magazines, and articles.
